The Rugeley Poisoner

(32 pp each) featuring the infamous Rugeley Poisoner, Dr William Palmer. Palmer's trial was the first for Strychnine Poisoning in this country ( although the post mortem never found any trace of the poison in the victim John Parsons Cook). Palmer was hanged on the 14 June 1856 and his effigy stood in Madame Tussauds 'Chamber of Horrors' for some 127 years. The two issues cover the trial (in some depth and illustrated) and the verdict. Also included in these issues is a large fold-out plan of the Baltic sea and naval review (on the reverse), Assyrian scultpures in the British Museum, the Epsom Races
