Jack the Ripper then only known as The Whitechapel Murders
- The page has 6 scenes with captions reading” “Arrested on suspicion
in Whitechapel” & “Trying to identify a supposed murderer in
Whitechapel police station” among others. The bottom has a great 3 paragraph
report on the police efforts this far. In addition to the many other illustrations
and news of the day, this issue contains a remarkable full page with 4 illustrations
of the London poor living in a common lodging house in Spitalfields (East
end).

- Editorials about the Ripper Murders on the "mountain of horror of the
crimes in Whitechapel", engravings of Whitechapel including "a suspicious
character", the local "Vigilance Committee" in the East-End,
