To conclude the series of commemorative
issues came
‘The Coronation Naval Review and the Royal Guildhall Visit’
number of May 22nd

(Appendix List No. 118).
In accordance with the traditional custom by which English Monarchs have
specially honoured the City of London in the year of their Coronation,
the King and Queen drove from Buckingham Palace to Guildhall on May 19th
to take luncheon with the Lord Mayor, Aldermen and citizens. This event
is fully covered in the first part of the magazine. The second part illustrates
the Naval Review at Spithead on May 20th, with a panoramic representation
of the Home Fleet battleships headed by the ‘Nelson’ together
with foreign warships and craft of the Mercantile Marine on the south
side, and, on the north side, battleships of the Mediterranean Fleet headed
by the ‘Queen Elizabeth’ and warships from Canada and India.
The cover of this issue is a coloured photograph of the battleship ‘Revenge’
within a large oval framed by the familiar pillars and wreaths of commemoration
in red, white and blue.
This issue is number 5118, vol. 190, pages 923-974, measuring 37 X 26
cm and priced at one shilling.
