London saw another day of Royal rejoicing when the King and Queen celebrated their Silver Wedding on April 26th 1948. The ILN commemorated the event with a
‘Royal Silver Wedding Number’
on May 1st.

The issue shows the Royal procession to St. Paul’s in the State landau; the Thanksgiving service conducted by the Bishop of London and the State procession returning to Buckingham Palace. A twelve page colour ‘portfolio of twenty five years of married life’ and a four page ‘Milestones in Their Majesties’ Life’ accompany the issue.
The silver cover has a natural colour photograph of the King and Queen in a large square frame with a surrounding border of stylized floral sprays and national coats of arms.
