| France’s hospitality to the Queen and Prince Philip in 1957 was reciprocated in 1960 when President and Mme. de Gaulle made a State visit to England. On April 16, 1960, the ILN published a special issue entitled ‘The State visit of the President of the French Republic’
(Appendix List No. 161). This visit lasted
from April 5 to April 8. The pages of the magazine show such highlights
as their arrival at Victoria station; the drive to Buckingham Palace;
the State banquet; the ceremonial luncheon at Guildhall; the review of
the Household Troops on Horse Guards Parade; the Gala Performance at Covent
Garden and their departure from London Airport. |
