National pride was to the fore when, on October 12, 1963,
the ILN published an issue entitled
‘H.M. Queen Elizabeth. The First Ten Years Record Number’

features of her reign which were most significant under such varied titles
as State visits, Commonwealth Tours, Political and Military highlights;
Centenaries, Anniversaries and memorial occasions; women in the public
eye; new projects and ventures; a decade of honours and distinctions;
industrial progress; British shipbuilding and aviation triumphs and achievements
in the fields of sport and exploration Sir Charles Petrie’s essay
‘Eleven Years a Queen’ supplies a thought provoking commentary
to the pictorial content of the issue and an eight page coloured section
shows magnificent photographs of the Queen at her coronation, as a wife
and mother and as sovereign of the Orders of Chivalry.
The coloured cover has a large photograph of the Queen in an oval frame
against• a background of royal blue.
