| Everything was excitement and happiness on November 14,
1973 when a smiling Princess Anne on the arm of her father, Prince Philip,
walked to the high altar of Westminster Abbey where she married Captain
Mark Phillips. It was a full military ceremony. Captain Phillips awaited
his bride in a splendid and ornate uniform of scarlet and blue, designed
for the 1st The Queen’s Dragoon Guards.
(Appendix List No. 173) commemorates this
event fully, with attention focussing on the bride in her Tudor style
wedding dress attended by her youngest brother, Prince Edward and her
cousin Lady Sarah Armstrong-Jones. Their return to Buckingham Palace is
fully recorded as is their appearance on the balcony waving to the cheering
crowds |
