Again Sir Winston Churchill was celebrated when the centenary of his birth cane round in November 1974. The ILN of that month published a ‘Churchill Centenary’ issue
(Appendix List No. 174). All aspects of
his life are covered in the following sections: the link with Blenheim;
the Great Parliamentarian; the man and his letters and Chartwell, the
calm centre of a crowded life. Four pages of photographs cover his life
from First Lord of the Admiralty in 1914 to becoming an honorary citizen
of the United States in 1963.
The cover has a photograph of Winston by Karsh of Ottawa taken in 1944
and hand coloured by Trevor Sutton. It is issue number 6916, vol. 262
containing 162 pages, measuring 30 x 22 cm and priced at forty pence.
