October 21st 1805 Nelson beat the combined French and
Spanish Fleet at the Battle of Trafalgar during which he lost his life.
On October 21st 1905 the ILN celebrated the Centenary of Trafalgar
with a semi-special number which illustrates the special religious services,
lectures and gatherings which were appropriate to the commemoration.

of W. I. Wyllie’s ‘Trafalgar’, the magazine has illustrated articles
on the ‘Victory’, Nelson and the Navy in the early eighteen hundreds
The front cover is the usual advertising wrapper but the title engraving
shows the Battle of Trafalgar. The issue is number 3470, vol. 127 (pages
561-592) measures 30 x 42 cm and was priced at sixpence.
